World Views in a Nutshell

In its simplest form a world view is the lens through which a person sees the world before him and by which he interprets the world around him.  We all hold within us some form of a world view though we may not be fully conscious of it.  If asked we may not be able to describe or even explain our personal world view.  Indeed, as uneducated persons with regards to world views in general, we may hold in combination elements in whole or in part of the several mature world views.  Because a world view is so basic to our day to day existence we seldom if ever contemplate our world view and how it affects our daily thinking and decision making.  In fact, because our personal world view is unrecognized and perhaps unorganized as well our positions on various social, economic, and ethical issues may well be incoherent, illogical, and at times even irrational.  To better understand our times, a clearer understanding of the various mature world views is not only helpful but necessary.  With a better understanding of world views one may even be able to predict with some degree of accuracy the “push” of our national direction based upon the world view held by the various political personalities of our time and their governmental decisions.  So, for starters, below are the major world views in a nutshell (D.M.E.):
